Core Principles

At the heart of everything we do are our core principles. These guiding values keep us on track and focused on achieving our goals. They shape the way we think, act, and interact with others. We hold ourselves accountable to these principles every day, ensuring that we always operate with excellence.

#1: Respect

Respect - A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

"Whoever acts with respect will get respect."

Respect yourself, respect others, respect your team mates, opponents, and your coaches.  The word respect casts a tree of infinite branches.  Respect is honesty, integrity, and decency.  When you show respect you earn respect. One of the greatest lessons anyone can learn is the true meaning of respect.

YouShouldWrestle believes that above all, respect is the most important core principle that wrestling facilitates.

#2: Preparation

Preperation - The action or process of making ready or being made ready for use or consideration.

"The will to win means nothing, the will to prepare means everything."

Everyone wants to win.  But few are willing to prepare.  Preparation is one of the most important attributes of the journey of life.  Whether on a wrestling mat, in a marriage, as a parent, or in a boardroom…the greater you prepare the greater your success.   Preparation is the work.  It’s the time you dedicate to something when no one is looking.  It’s working towards the best version of yourself.

#3: Sacrifice

Sacrifice - To suffer loss of, give up, renounce, injure, or destroy especially for an ideal, belief, or end.

"Sacrifice comes before success!"

The more you give, the more you get.  If you want to achieve greatness sacrifice is part of the journey.  Whether it be a favorite food, time, energy, or even relationships with certain people…we all have to give something up to achieve our goals.

In most scenarios the greater the sacrifice the greater the return.  If you ever speak to anyone who has achieved at the highest level of their craft odds are they’ve made great sacrifice to get there.

#4: Humility

Humility - Freedom from pride or arrogance; the quality or state of being humble.

"Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right."

Humility is a trait that emits itself less and less in our ever changing world.  Wrestling teaches humility at it’s core level.  One on one and will vs will.  It’s one of the toughest challenges a kid can take on.  Humility creates common ground.  It brings authenticity to people and their affairs.  When one can step back and act with humility in a difficult situation they will achieve the best possible outcome.
